Back Again November 17, 2008

…and I’m back.

Well, I’ve been back. But mostly uninspired for a time. Spending a little too much time inside my own head.

But I’m feeling better now; hoping it lasts.

Anyhow, I’ve started being productive again! Plans for taking over the (virtual) world are back on track. I’m making stuff, including Mad Plans. I’m taking another stab at rolling around in LSL and hoping some more of it sticks (and it already seems to be, even if just a wee bit). Been also working on some (very simple) sculpties in Sculptypaint. Finishing some building stuff, working on some clothes and furnitures….

And I’m back to blogging.

I will admit having a love/hate relationship with my blog. It’s my blog, right? Then why do I often get this “mehhh I shouldn’t blog this, it’s silly/I’m ranting to hear myself talk” feeling when I am mid-post and ditch it.

So I’m trying to stop that. I promise I’ll try not to post drivel, but I am going to make a concerted effort to post more often on a wider variety of topics, from fluff to silly to serious.

I guess the proof will be in the pudding. But only if it’s tapioca.

So this job is kicking my ass. Most days on this show the call time is 6 AM, which means 5:30 AM really, in order to get breakfast and for work we have to do before the call time. I have actual work to do before the day “officially” starts, and on this job I don’t get paid for it either. But I do get breakfast.

But none of that is as important as this: I am getting up at 4:45 AM. Hello!! I mean, this is me, Queen Night Owl. Heck there are plenty of nights when I don’t get to bed until that time!

I’ve been extra tired because my feet have been *KILLING ME*. It’s my arches, they just hurt and hurt….if I’m walking it’s not as bad, but the standing. in. place. I had to run errands for new shoes and extra gel insoles and more work-like clothes on my (only) day off on Sunday.

So I had 0 relaxation time on my only day off on Sunday; logged on for like 5 minutes to pay rent and clear my incomings. I started to read the blogs but it only made it worse! As in, I miss everybody and hanging out and hump day parties and blogging (OK I have been shite at blogging, and completely snooze-worthy to boot). I was doing OK in deaf-n-dumb mode, where I’d just catch up when the job was done but I got a few minutes and started reading blogs…. /me cries.

I feel like I’ve been in “barely” checking in mode on Second Life in forever. I had a brief respite after Burning Man before this job started but it was too brief.

Anyway, I might *might* be able to make it to the Hump day party this week. Yay! And I see from my limited blog scan it’s Asian themed (yay eaaasy for me) and Sai is hosting at her store (above her store?) I guess I’ll firgure it out if I get home & done with dinner at a decent hour.

After I’m done with this job I can even volunteer to have the party at my place! (after whomever is already hostess-waiting-in-the-wings, of course….

Anyway….this post is really just….I miss you guys

More back and I’m 2 September 11, 2008

More back than before, but still not 100%. Mostly because we booked a 3 week RL job that starts Monday (OK, technically tomorrow) and I’ve been doing a whole lotta nothing cept resting up and pokin n prodding around SL some.

But I did get a plot of land and have been working on a build for Burning Life. Even though it officially doesn’t open until Sept 27, I’ll be working 6 day weeks, 12+ hours a day until then so I need to finish it up mostly this weekend. Wow, look at me talk like someone who’s gainfully (if only temporarily) employed.

So yes this new job (only 3 weeks) will put a serious damper on my SL time. But I’m sure I’ll log in every night at least for a bit, if I don’t fall asleep from exhaustion the second I get home. Did I mention it’s a golf movie? Sure to help shed some of my enlarging arse. [Edit: the job is working on set, camera department this time, of a little indie movie. I forget who knows and who doesnt know what I do for RL work, but I can do lots of different jobs so sometimes I can't even keep track myself!]

And OMG I almost forgot, today is my rez day. Yes, my rezz day is 9/11. Techincally my rez day is even the 5th anniversary (9/11/2006). Which at the time had nothing to do with checking out SL, but is a reminder every year, and feels wierd to celebrate. And this year I nearly forgotted!

Baaaack September 6, 2008

Ok, actually been back a few days but it takes just about as long to unwind and adjust back to “default world” as it does to prepare to go. Not that I’ve hardly even started laundry or unpacking yet…

More soon as I decompress. I might even make it in-world today finally.

Disappeared into the Burning Man preparations…. August 22, 2008

I kinda sorta just ran off, not intending to be completely away the whole time, but after not having done anything in the way of preparation all summer I got completely wrapped up into getting ready for Burning Man.

So I leave tomorrow morning for the dusty desert. When I get back I’ll be jonesing for some SL time. And it will be my 2nd Rezz day soon after…

Anyway, just wanted to say “i’m not dead” and that I do miss you guys. Burning Man (and preparing for it) pulls me out of anything else I’m doing for awhile.

SEND ME YOUR SHAPES!!!

Ok, let me explain

One of my goals for my shop Royally is that I want to celebrate diversity and that includes AV sizes. I realize how much people can and will change their shape to better fit clothes “off the rack” and that sucks.

Additionally, as I’m working on stuff for mai store, some of the things I’m making could perhaps be a tricky fit for a variety of shapes and sizes. Sometime in the future, I will introduce a super cool awesome brand new innovative new thing I have planned to help with this, but for now, I need a little help, and you providing me a copy of your shape will definitely help me.

Obviously, if you bought rather than made your shape, you prolly can’t send it to me, but you can tell me where you got it and I can pick up a demo if one’s available.

But I think many people make their own shapes, and I would love to be able to have a variety of shapes to test on and create different sized/fitted prim bits. So I will probably test fit on a lot of different shapes and will use some as the basis of different size versions, meaning they could fit you perfectly!

Feel free to lock up the perms if you want; I promise I’m not going to give away, copy, wear your shape around town, try to impersonate you, or steal your cupcakes.

If you make your own shape and want to share it with me (PLEASE?!?)… do the following:
-Make a copy of your shape.
-Change the name to “YOURNAME’s shape”
-Change the perms any way you want.
-Drop it on me (QueenKellee Kuu) in world.
-If you also have a dress shape (system skirt shape) feel free to also drop it on me as well, marking it as your dress shape.

If you have a purchased shape:
-Send me a notecard telling me the store name and shape name/creator name.
-SLURLS appreciated but if you don’t have ‘em don’t worry about it.

Warning Bore Factor July 29, 2008

When I’m working so much on stuff, I feel like I don’t have  alot to share. That my posts would be boring, especially cuz I’m not ready to show off anything I’m working on just yet.

So here’s that post. Sorry so boring.

I’ve been working like crazy on clothes and am proud to say I’ve gained critical mass, wherein I spend a decent amount of time each day working on stuff and am seeing myself get faster and faster and better and better. I’m deciding what I want to open with and also the plan for the 2nd, et al release. I’m spending time thinking and planning how I want things laid out in the store. The poster designs and naming things and thinking about where you buy things like lucky chairs (found ‘em) and prize camping (looking). Wondering if FashCon is still relevant (since far too many people are annoyed with/turning off notices). Thinking about some of the cool customer service things I want to implement (for which I will need to hire a custom scriptor, so they will have to wait until after I open and am generating a bit of cash flow in order to pay them what I’m guessing I’ll need to pony up).

But I did take a bit of time off from creating this weekend to stalk some lucky chairs and run errands and wear somebody else’s clothes. And I maked a purty picture that I like a lot.

yah, sorry, I been quiet.

Krusty is doing sooooo much better. Actually it was only this past weekend that he REALLY started to act like his old self. Still a few lingering issues but on the whole, he’s a brand new kitteh! Thanks so much for your thoughts and prayers. He says “Merrmemm”

Of course now that I don’t have to worry so much about Krusty, I’m starting to feel a bit crappy myself. Worst is these headaches I’ve been getting, and crazy sneezing allergy attacks. It puts me in a weird and anti-social mood. So I’ve just been laying low a little bit. In SL I’ve mostly been logging in to work on my clothes and store.

As an example:

Yes, I know that it looks like I’m working on a hot-dog-on-a-stick uniform — I swear it’s not. But I do think the bushy unibrow is pretty special.

So today I swear I’m going to get properly dressed and finally leave my skybox.

Krusty Update: Improvements July 10, 2008

Thankfully, Krusty is doing a lot better but is still at the vet’s. Looks like he will hopefully come home on Friday if he looks good then. The last news from the vet is that his blood levels are correcting nicely and he’s getting active and like his old self so yay!

I had to miss the Viper Pit fashion disasters party tonight so everybody post pictures cuz I want to see you at your best of worst! hehehe. Worst part was I had to miss it b/c Andy’s mom came over for a visit for the sole purpose of bitching us out about money issues. Weeeeeee! not.

So I guess by missing the party I also missed some dramaz. Prolly a good thing I missed it then since I’m totally not in the mood and would have probably started a war of words. O.o

Our vet lets you come visit so I’m waiting for Andy to come home from working to go for a visit and see how Krusty is. I’m nervous about seeing him. The house hasn’t been the same without him. But Super Kitty is getting loads of extra love!

In the meantime, I have to figure out how to make eleventy billion dollars in a depressed economy. Street corner, here I come…(j/k sortamaybe…ok prolly more like shitty cubicle job here I come)

Sorry for the ramble. Don’t worry, I’ll be back to regularly scheduled programming very soon.

Prayers for Krusty! July 9, 2008

I’ve had a bad RL week so far.

First, financial situation crashing and burning, and then today we had to rush one of our cats, Krusty, to the vet as he’s got a blocked urethra and will die if we don’t give him (of course expensive) treatment. Right now he’s at the vet getting worked on and will be there for at least a few days…Please put lil Krusty in your thoughts and prayers! Thankfully our vet is good and cares.

I’m putting RL job stuff into hyper drive and hoping to have an early soft opening for my store in the next few days/week with just a few items, including some limited time kitteh fundraiser type items. Not that I think I’ll rake it in or solve all my problems that way, but suddenly every little bit counts.

And to end this post on a more happy note, lookie at my cute Krusty Kitteh piccies. No wonder we love him so much!

EDIT: As I was finishing up this post (which was hours ago at this point) the vet called and they were having trouble putting in the catheter so we had to go pick him up and take him to the Vet ER, where he came very near death but they were able to get his bladder drained and on the road to recovery. Too many times today I had to sit there and try to quantify how much money Krusty’s life is worth. What a horrible thought, I wouldn’t wish it on my worst enemy. The Vet Emergency room doctor said he’s never seen a cat this blocked and in this bad of shape, but for all that by the time we left Krusty, he was showing a very real improvement and things were looking much much much better. The bigger worry now is that this problem could reoccur in the future. :(:( But our ER Vet doc was so amazing and nice, well, everyone has been today so Thank God for that at least. We’ll see how he is in the morning. Fingers Crossed.
